For Immediate Release: WV Delegate Joshua Higginbotham to visit Jackson County Developmental Center September 1, 2017 at 1:00 p.m.

Millwood, WV, August 30, 2017--- Jackson County Developmental Center (JCDC) is pleased to announce the upcoming visit of WV Delegate Joshua Higginbotham of the 13th District on September 1, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Delegate Higginbotham will be touring JCDC’s Millwood facility located in the Industrial Park at 270 Jack Burlingame Drive, Millwood, WV.

JCDC is a non-profit social enterprise serving Jackson County since 1979. Through sound business practices JCDC maintains employment opportunities for more than 150 people with and without disabilities in 7 West Virginia counties. By extending an invitation to Delegate Higginbotham we will be showing him first hand the effectiveness of programs provided by JCDC and supported by WV Medicaid, the WV Division of Rehabilitation Services (WVDRS), and the WV Association of Rehabilitation Facilities (WVARF.) Through these programs, JCDC has supported 187 people with disabilities over the last year. 350 high school students with special needs attended a transition event sponsored by JCDC in the 2016-2017 school year. A total of 550 or more family members were directly affected by JCDC’s support of their family member with a disability.

JCDC provides recycling services, quality cleaning cloths, data entry, and much more.

During Delegate Higginbotham’s tour, he will observe multiple production projects developed with some of West Virginia’s largest corporations designed to create jobs for people with disabilities.

JCDC is excited to highlight the abilities of our employees and how legislation can enhance the programs and lives of our participants. As a member of the Education, Energy, Interstate Cooperation, Small Business & Economic Development, and Veterans Affairs & Homeland Security Committees, Delegate Higginbotham has been making every effort to learn about West Virginia communities and the programs working hard to improve the lives of West Virginians.
